Think of long sandy beaches and a glitzy French seaside resort,
and you'll most likely picture the Côte d'Azur. But nestled
in the southwest corner of France, just a stone's throw from Spain,
is the glamorous town of Biarritz, perhaps not as famous as its
Riviera neighbours but no less stylish.
A quaint fishing village until the mid 19th century, all changed
for Biarritz when Napoleon III and Empress Eugenie came to visit
and fell in love with the area's natural beauty. A few more royals
and some tasteful development later, Biarritz is now a fashionable
resort with elegant architecture, some great spots to go out,
and its pièce de résistance of miles of golden sand,
making it a true beach lover’s paradise. |
