Panama is, in many ways the hidden gem of Central America. Years
of US influence have meant that Panama is one of the more developed
countries of the region, yet at the same time it has more square
miles of protected National Park land than Costa Rica and an equal
level of biodiversity. It is a cultural melting pot of the Americas
where you can find cultural influences of Panama’s indigenous
people, migrants from South America and the Caribbean, the USA
and of course the Spanish settlers.
Boquete itself is a paradise destination in a spectacular setting
in Panama's cloud forest. It is safe, peaceful, beautiful and
inexpensive. Boquete’s climate is close to perfect; it is
warm during the day and pleasantly cool at night. It is one hour
from the beaches on the Pacific coast and 3 hours from the white
sanded, palm-lined beaches of Bocas del Toro in the Caribbean,
but it is the spectacular cloud forest and mountains which provides
most of the exciting activities on offer in the afternoons when
you can explore the Quetzl’s trail in the national park,
or zip line through the high treetops and appreciate the rich
diversity of the cloud forest in all its glory.
