Come to Toulouse to learn French
and you'll be joining thousands of
other students studying at its many
universities, colleges and grandes
écoles. Perhaps no exaggeration,
then, to say this is the learning
centre of the south. And, whilst clinging
onto its age-
old architecture and beautiful vieux quartier,
it is also one of France's fastest growing cities
and an important hub of industry and commerce,
stemming in part from its strategic aeronautical
position during the wars. Today, though, Toulouse
lies virtually within throwing distance of the
Pyrenees and just a couple of hours from each
of the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts - within
range, we should add, of a warm Spanish sun sneaking
up generously from the south. Hence we have it
that student life does not limit itself to the
countless libraries, bookshops or museums in Toulouse,
but instead to the open-air terraces and attractive
park areas.
The
School
The school, established in
1984, runs French language courses
in Toulouse year-round. The school
is run by a dynamic and experienced
team of native French speakers, and
courses are designed for all nationalities
and all levels of knowledge of French.
The
building itself is a beautiful
Toulousain-style house in the city centre, a 5
minute walk from Capitole (the city hall), and
St. Sernin Cathedral. Nearby there is a large
park with a Japanese garden, and a daily Farmers'
Market on the boulevard itself. For easy access
to all areas of Toulouse the bus station and metro
are just two minutes' walk. The school uses a
variety of teaching methods, cassettes and texts
are used to encourage development of all language
skills, with a particular focus on practical conversation.
Client
Feedback
" I loved Toulouse and would happily
go back there. I think the best
recommendation I could give would
be to get a good map and really
explore the city. Hiring a bike
and riding along the Canal du Midi
is particularly worthwhile."
