You can't dispute Salerno's
enviable geographic position. Looking
out over the Bay of Salerno, with
the stunning Amalfi coast extending
north, Salerno enjoys a wonderful
climate and magnificent sea views.
Victim of southern Italy's many landslides
and tremors, and the unfortunate target
of
heavy fighting in the mid-20th century, the city
has nonetheless managed to retain its buzzing
medieval centre. Today many people also flock
to the tree-lined, seafront promenade to take
in the panoramas, open-air cafés and laid-back
Italian lifestyle. As a place to mix holidays
and study, this really does seem like the ideal
location.
The School
The school is situated in one of the
most beautiful and popular streets
of Salerno, Via Roma, a short distance
from the medieval Cathedral Square
and right in the heart of the historical
and artistic centre of town. The school
itself is in a charming antique building
of noble origin, Palazzo Angrisani,
facing the seafront, and students can enjoy wonderful
panoramic views of the sea from its windows. All
teachers are highly qualified and specialised
in the teaching of Italian to foreigners, individually
chosen for their ability to transmit enthusiasm
and encourage lively participation in class. Typical
materials used in classes are modern text books
and various audio-visual and multi-media resources,
ensuring that students come away with a complete,
all-round knowledge of the language.
