Originally named Quanax-Huato,
or 'place of frogs', by the Tarascan
Indians, and then exploited for its
silver by the Spanish conquistadores,
Guanajuato has long been attracting
visitors and settlers. It's set in
a narrow gorge amid wild, breathtaking
scenery, and has been an important
centre for mining since the mid-16th century.
It's also a thriving student hub and today you
can see both locals and visitors enjoying the
elegant buildings, colonial architecture and fine
museums of this central Mexican World Heritage
site.
The
School
The school was founded in 1988 and
is located in a Victorian-style building
just 10 minutes' walk from Embajadores
Park. The school's capacity is about
70 students, many of whom come from
the US and Canada, covering a wide
age range. As well as Spanish tuition,
English is also taught to locals here, meaning
that students studying Spanish have the chance
to mix with native Mexican students. Classes are
kept to a maximum of 5 students, an ideal number
to encourage interaction within class whilst ensuring
individual attention from the teachers to each
student. All teachers are university graduates
with plenty of experience teaching Spanish and,
in many cases, other languages and subjects too.
Client
Feedback
All the teachers have been great
- they are very positive and enthusiastic,
the lessons have been really interesting
and we have learnt a lot. We would
definitely recommend this school and
hope to return one day! The family
has also been great, very welcoming
and very accommodating. And Guanajuato
itself is also a great place to learn
Spanish! Nova Thomas
